THE DETAILS
Rectangular tiles and one or more rectangular areas, or a single total-area estimate. Tile length and width accept 1–3000 in in US mode. Metric mode accepts the same physical range, 2.54–7620 cm. Area and room dimensions must be positive. The joint width must be zero or greater.
For each rectangle: tiles across = ceil((width + joint) ÷ (tile width + joint)); tiles down uses the lengths the same way. Multiply those values, then add the areas' tile counts. For total area: tiles needed = ceil(area ÷ ((tile length + joint) × (tile width + joint))). Purchase tiles = ceil(tiles needed × (1 + your waste % ÷ 100)). Boxes = ceil(purchase tiles ÷ tiles per box). Full-box tiles = boxes × tiles per box.
The grid estimate counts a tile at each edge as a whole tile and does not assume offcuts can be reused. Total-area mode cannot know the shape, edge cuts, or obstacles. Tiles are assumed to run in the length and width directions you enter. Use your chosen waste allowance for breakage and extra cuts, then confirm quantities with your installer or supplier.

Yes. Both names refer to estimating how many tiles a measured surface needs. This tool also turns the estimate into whole boxes using the box size you enter.
Use length and width when you know each rectangular area. That counts rows and columns, including edge tiles. Use total area when only square footage or square meters is available; the result is less specific because the shape is unknown.
Yes. The tool applies your editable extra percentage to the tile count, rounds up to whole tiles, then rounds up again to whole boxes.
